With our Gentle Hair Removal™ system, New U Med Spa can help people throughout the Midland area say goodbye to shaving, waxing and plucking. Gentle is the only laser hair removal treatment to combine super-fast treatment times with a patented Dynamic Cooling Device™. It’s powerful and effective for all skin types—and the most comfortable laser treatment available!
Here’s how Gentle works to remove unwanted hair: A laser pulse delivers a controlled amount of therapeutic heat into your skin, safely and effectively damaging the hair follicles in the targeted area. Throughout the treatment, the Dynamic Cooling Device minimizes discomfort by releasing a quick burst of liquid cryogen before and after each laser pulse. This cryogen quickly evaporates, cooling the outer layers of the skin. Treatments take anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the area being treated.
You’ll need a few treatments to get optimal results. Here’s why:
Hair grows in three stages:
The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage, so you will need to undergo a few treatments, scheduled an average of six weeks apart, to catch all of them in the growth stage. 80% of patients report permanent hair reduction after four to six treatments!
Plus, the GentleYAG® system at New U Med Spa is proven effective to treat rosacea and other vascular issues. You’ll be able to achieve clearer-looking skin quickly, safely and effectively.
Laser hair removal with Candela Gentle YAG® is gentler and much less uncomfortable than electrolysis, waxing or tweezing. Some clients report a mild tingling or stinging sensation during the laser treatment, but many report little or no discomfort. Some areas are more sensitive than others, but Candela Gentle YAG uses a patented cryogen spray system that cools the skin immediately prior to each laser pulse allowing even sensitive areas to be treated in a relatively painless fashion.
Aside from the areas close to the eye, with laser hair removal almost any area of the body can be treated. The inside of the ears and nose must be avoided to prevent damage to sensitive tissues. The most commonly treated areas are face, upper lip, neck, chest, back, underarm, abdomen, legs, bikini and full Brazilian. But many people experience hair growth in other areas that are unattractive or embarrassing. Procedures are performed with discretion and confidentiality regarding your treatment is maintained.
Laser hair removal is safe as long as patients follow the care instructions. Every precaution is taken to ensure that you have safe and effective treatments.
Lasers used for laser hair removal are non-ionizing; they do not carry any mutagenic radiation whatsoever. The lasers only have a heating effect.
You should experience some minor redness (erythema) and swelling (edema) on the treated areas during your treatment. Depending on your skin and hair conditions, the redness can last up to 2-3 days and may feel like a sunburn. Patients generally experience the most redness and swelling on larger areas where the hair is more dense and coarse. On smaller areas where the hair is finer, such as a woman’s face, the redness and swelling should subside by the end of the treatment, and/or after applying aloe vera gel.
Use an SPF 30+ zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunblock whenever possible before, during, and after the course of your treatments. Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation.
Within 1-3 weeks you should start to see shedding of dead hair from your skin. Some of these dead hairs may remain under the skin and appear stuck (pepperspots). You can exfoliate to remove these, but do not use your fingers or tweezers to pick at them. They will eventually work themselves out. You can shave, but not wax or pluck, for 4-6 weeks after your treatment.
